BizDev can talk to Z-Claw in Slack. The bot is z-claw. It answers in the channel where it was mentioned.
A mention only arrives after the bot is in the channel. In that channel, invite it:
/invite @z-claw
Until then, the mention shows in Slack and the bot never sees it.
Write the request in the channel and mention the bot.
@z-claw this is a test, please reply if you get it
It replies in that same place. A reply to that message, including the next note in the thread, is still for the bot, so it answers there too.
It stays quiet when the latest message is for someone else. A mention earlier in the thread does not keep it talking. It answers again when a new message mentions it, or replies to a message that mentioned it.
The jobs are the same ones he can ask for in chat: a question about the product data, a change to rows, or a report. A longer answer comes back as a link he can open, the same way a dashboard does in chat.
Describe what went wrong in the channel, then ask the bot to debug it.
@z-claw debug this
It reads that message, and the thread above it. The reply in Slack is for BizDev: what went wrong, who it affected, and what happens next, in everyday words.
The technical write-up is on the report link in that reply. That page is for the developers. It has the records, the times, and the cause. Slack does not repeat that detail.
If the thread does not say who it happened to, or when, the bot asks in the thread and waits. It does not fill that in on its own.
A debug mention explains what happened. It does not change records unless the message also asks for a fix.
Ask the bot to find an existing issue, or to create one.
@z-claw find the issue about the claim link
@z-claw create an issue: the claim link email never arrived
It looks for a matching issue first. If one is already open, it sends that one. It creates a new issue only when you ask it to.
A new issue is opened in the current release. The bot checks which sprint that is at the moment it creates the issue. The reply names the issue, names that sprint, and includes the link. It stays in everyday words. If you did not say what the issue is about, it asks and waits.
